This September, The Car Company Nelson once again put the pedal down for a great cause — raising funds and awareness for Whakatū Refuge (formerly Nelson Women’s and Children’s Refuge).
As part of our Drive for Change charity initiative, we pledged to donate $50 from every vehicle sold throughout September to Whakatū Refuge, helping support the incredible work they do for families in need across our region.
We’re thrilled to share that we sold 101 vehicles during the month — contributing $5,050 to the cause!
But that’s not all. With the generous help of New World Stoke, we ran a grocery voucher giveaway worth $500 for anyone who donated $20 or more. This initiative encouraged extra community giving and raised another $500 in donations.
To top it off, our Managing Director Shane Drummond helped arrange for Whakatū Refuge volunteers to attend a Tasman Mako NPC match, where they collected even more donations from the crowd.
By the end of the month, we were proud to hand over a total of $5,900 to Whakatū Refuge — an organisation that provides vital safety, shelter, and support for women and children in our community.
Over the years, we’ve now contributed more than $150,000 to Whakatū Refuge through our Drive for Change campaign. It’s something our whole team is incredibly proud of, and it’s all made possible by the ongoing support of our customers, partners, and community.
